Thunder Vs. Rocky Mountain Rage

The Thunder were looking a little weak coming back to the locker room after the first period. Jon Horrell allowed 3 pucks past him while we could not get any past Scott Reid. At 17:39 punches began to fly between Stan Yanchishyn and Colt King with Yanchishyn bringing king to his knee. As the linesmen were splinting it up King hoped up and gave Yanny a cheep shot to the face. Shots on Goal: Wichita 9, Rocky Mountain 10.

The second period was a little better with Chris Greene scoring his first Thunder goal at 7:53 assisted by Duda and Clayton. Then at 10:04 Jason Duda scored a powerplay goal assisted by Clayton and Paul. Horrell was faced with one more goal against by Brent Cullaton at 16:28. More fireworks came at the end of the second between Mike Batavanja and both Colt King and David Morelli. The fight first broke out between Batty and King. When King took Batty down and start playing up the crowd, Batty got up and started throwing punches with Morelli. Shots on Goal: Wichita 12, Rocky Mountain 10.

The final 20:00 in Colorado started off strong with the a powerplay goal by Alex Goupil assisted by Richardson and Nelson at 1:27 to make it 4-3. Thunder's second powerplay goal in nearly ten games. Plenty of shots thrown at Reid in the first half of the third, but none making it past him. At 14:19 Trevor Weisgerber shot one past Horrell to make it 5-3, then about 30 seconds later Daymen Rycroft made it 6-3. Fist were flying with less than 4:30 left between Kyle Bruce and Colt King. Less than one minute later Daniel Tetrault and Chip Dunleavy duked it out. Todd Paul threw a powerplay goal in to make it 6-4, the Greene very shortly after threw one in to make it 6-5. This is the third time tonight the Thunder has come within one goal. Daymen Rycroft threw one in on the empty net with less than 30 seconds left to make it 7-5. And with that the Rage win it, and the Thunder once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Shots on goal: Wichita 15 for a total of 36, Rocky Mountain 15 for a total of 35.
